Your Private Advocate connects clients with experienced U.S. legal counsel through Garth A. Molander, Esq., while providing organized communication and cross-border coordination through Vassiliy Kolganov. This professional collaboration is particularly valuable when a legal matter involves individuals, documents, property or institutions in both the United States and Bulgaria.

Meet Garth A. Molander, Esq.
Garth A. Molander is the founding attorney of the Law Offices of Garth A. Molander and brings more than thirty years of legal experience to clients requiring disciplined advocacy, careful preparation and strategic guidance. He is admitted and active in New York and Florida and represents clients in immigration, appellate, elder law, estate planning and probate matters.
U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law
Attorney Garth A. Molander represents clients in a range of U.S. immigration matters, including temporary and immigrant visas, lawful permanent residence, naturalization and citizenship, removal proceedings and immigration appeals. Clients receive a careful assessment of their circumstances, a clear explanation of the available legal options and a strategy tailored to the specific facts of their case.
Criminal Immigration and Removal Defense
A criminal charge or conviction may have serious immigration consequences for any person who is not a U.S. citizen, including a lawful permanent resident. Attorney Molander evaluates the interaction between criminal and immigration law, commonly referred to as “crimmigration,” and represents clients in removal and deportation matters involving criminal convictions, alleged immigration violations and other grounds of removability. When necessary, he coordinates with criminal defense counsel so that the potential immigration consequences are considered as early as possible.
Advanced Immigration Appeals
A distinguishing strength of Attorney Molander’s practice is his extensive experience in complex immigration litigation and appellate advocacy. He represents clients challenging adverse immigration decisions before the Executive Office for Immigration Review, the Board of Immigration Appeals and, when appropriate, the federal courts of appeals.
Attorney Molander is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. His appellate background enables him to identify legal and procedural issues, preserve arguments for review and develop a case strategy that considers not only the immediate proceeding but also the possibility of further appeal.
Probate, Estate and Cross-Border Inheritance Matters
Attorney Molander advises and represents clients in probate, estate administration and related inheritance matters within the U.S. jurisdictions where he is admitted to practice. When representation is required in another jurisdiction, the matter may be coordinated with independently licensed local counsel.
Inheritance matters frequently involve both the United States and Bulgaria. A person may die in one country while leaving real estate, financial accounts, business interests or other assets in the other. Potential heirs may know that a relative has died but may not know whether they are legally entitled to inherit, what property forms part of the estate or which proceedings must be initiated.
In matters involving both countries, Garth A. Molander handles or coordinates the U.S. legal components within the scope of his licenses, while Vassiliy Kolganov advises and represents clients regarding Bulgarian inheritance law and proceedings. Each attorney works within his respective jurisdiction, while coordinating documents, information and legal strategy when the matter has a cross-border element.
Elder Law and Estate Planning
Attorney Molander earned an advanced LL.M. degree in Elder Law from Stetson University College of Law. His work in this field includes estate planning, probate matters and administrative estate litigation. He is also a published author on elder law and professional ethics, including scholarship published by the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA).
